John Horton,Le-Ann Horton Obituary, Death; – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a double-fatal crash involving a marked OSHP cruiser that occurred this afternoon in Athens County.
Around 2 p.m., a trooper witnessed a traffic violation on US-50 near Fisher Road. The trooper was attempting to catch up to the violator’s vehicle when a Toyota sedan traveling westbound on US-50 attempted to cross the eastbound lanes onto Fisher Road, resulting in a collision.
The two occupants of the sedan, identified as John Horton, 82, and Le-Ann Horton, 72, both from Albany, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The trooper involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
