John Flemister Obituary, Death; – Officials have identified a man who was fatally shot on the Near West Side over the weekend.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:04 p.m. on a pedestrian bridge adjacent to the CTA Blue Line platform in the 400-block of South Peoria Street at Van Buren, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Two men, aged 24 and 61, were present at the scene and engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated into gunfire, police reported.

During the exchange, the older man sustained a gunshot wound to the head and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The medical examiner has since identified him as John Flemister. Authorities stated that the younger man is currently being questioned at Area 3. No additional injuries have been reported.
