Joey Vincent Simmons Obituary, Death;- A 23-year-old robbery suspect from Memphis passed away on Wednesday morning during a high-speed chase with the Arkansas State Police.
The agency has identified the suspect as Joey Vincent Simmons, who was allegedly connected to several armed robberies at convenience stores in Conway and Damascus, Arkansas. On Wednesday morning, state troopers located Simmons’ Toyota Camry on U.S. Highway 65 near Bee Branch, Arkansas.
According to ASP, a pursuit commenced with Simmons driving at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Authorities report that the 23-year-old also discharged a firearm at his pursuers before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a wooded area. ASP states that Simmons was ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene around 7:45 a.m.
No troopers sustained injuries during the pursuit.
