Joel Ramirez Jimenez Obituary, Death;- A Long Island man has been identified as the individual who perished in a wrong-way accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway on Sunday, December 7.
Joel Ramirez Jimenez, 34, from Wyandanch, lost his life in the incident that took place early Sunday morning on the northbound side of the parkway, as confirmed by Westchester County Police.
At 4:12 a.m. on Sunday, a patrol officer traveling south observed two vehicles that had been involved in a head-on collision just south of Webster Avenue, according to a police news release.
Officers extricated the driver, who was found unresponsive at the wheel, from his vehicle and initiated CPR. Personnel from the New Rochelle Fire Department and emergency medical services subsequently took over his care. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he was declared dead at 5:07 a.m., as reported by the police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle traveling the wrong way had entered the parkway at Webster Avenue.
The driver and two passengers in the other vehicle involved sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, according to police reports.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
