Joel Godino Obituary, Death;- Andrew D. Stanisci, aged 39, has been found guilty in relation to the death of 68-year-old Joel Godino, whose remains were discovered hidden in a suitcase within a Redmond apartment in March 2023.

Following a year-long investigation conducted by the Redmond Police Department, Stanisci was convicted on July 7 of several serious offenses, including First Degree Manslaughter, Unlawful Imprisonment, Removal or Concealment of a Body, First Degree Identity Theft, First Degree Theft, and Forgery.

Investigations and testimonies from witnesses indicated that Stanisci subjected Mr. Godino to physical abuse, drugging, isolation, and financial exploitation over a prolonged period, even imprisoning him in a closet and depriving him of essential care.

After Mr. Godino’s death, Stanisci reportedly attempted to conceal the crime by hiding the body for two months, placing a false note on the apartment door to prevent discovery, and continuing to access the victim’s bank accounts, transferring nearly $10,000, and forging checks.

The King County Medical Examiner identified acute drug intoxication as the primary cause of death, with blunt force trauma and cardiovascular disease as contributing factors. However, the manner of death was classified as undetermined due to decomposition and other complicating factors.

“This case exemplifies the tragic consequences of prolonged abuse and exploitation of a vulnerable person,” stated Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe. “Our detectives dedicated significant effort to uncover the truth and ensure accountability. We appreciate those who came forward and provided vital information that aided in achieving justice in this sorrowful case.”

Stanisci is presently in custody and awaiting sentencing.
