Jesus Rodriguez Barragan Obituary, Death;- Austin police have identified the pedestrian who was killed in a tragic hit-and-run accident on South Interstate 35 during the morning of the Fourth of July holiday.

Officers were dispatched on July 4 at 8:51 a.m. to respond to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the 8300 block of South I-35 Northbound Service Road.

ALSO| A man lost his life in a crash near Austin airport over the Fourth of July weekend. Authorities discovered the victim, named Jesus Rodriguez Barragan, 40, deceased at the scene. The vehicle that was involved in the incident did not stay at the location.
The event marks the 49th fatal crash in Austin for the year 2025, leading to a total of 53 fatalities.

The investigation into this crash is still ongoing.

The Austin Police Department is encouraging anyone who has information regarding the incident to reach out to their Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111. Additionally, tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting Crimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
