Jennifer Heit,Ryan Heit Obituary, Death; – A man shot and killed his wife before killing himself Monday morning in southwest suburban Plainfield, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire at a home around 5:50 a.m. in the 1800 block of Burnshite Court and found a woman and man, both 40 years old, fatally shot, Joliet police said in a statement.

A preliminary investigation shows the man shot and killed his wife and then exited the home and took his own life with the handgun, police said.

They were identified as Jennifer Heit and Ryan Heit, according to the Kendall County Coroner’s office. Police said four children ranging from 3 to 16 years old were found unharmed in the home and placed into protected custody.
