Jason Elola Obituary, Death; – A man who lost his life following a road rage incident in Castro Valley has been identified as Jason Elola, 49, from Tracy.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, which is conducting the investigation, reported that the incident took place around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Wilbeam and Norbridge avenues in Castro Valley, just off Interstate 580. According to the Sheriff’s office, the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a collision that may have originated from a road rage incident.

The CHP discovered Elola with injuries that were not specified, and he was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared deceased. The other individual involved had initially fled the scene but subsequently contacted the CHP, returned to the location, and was taken into custody. The CHP then transferred the case to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

The Sheriff’s office has identified the other driver as Martin W. Davis, Jr., 37, and records from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office indicate that he was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of murder. He is being held without bail pending a court hearing scheduled for Thursday morning.

Eric Hawkins, who collaborated with Elola at Hawkins’ Street Eats 209 business in Tracy, mentioned that the father of nine was in San Francisco celebrating the 18th birthday of one of his sons. He was returning to Tracy with his wife, Gabrielle, and their two young daughters, aged 5 and 5 months, and they were exiting the freeway to stop for ice cream when the incident transpired.

Eric and Lynda Hawkins characterized Elola as a vital part of their Street Eats 209 business located on Corral Hollow Road next to West Valley Mall, where several hundred people gathered for a candlelight vigil on Monday evening.

“He’s the primary person who manages everything at our food truck plaza,” Eric stated. “The entire operation relied on him.”
