Janet Lynn Slaughter Obituary, Death; – A 46-year-old woman from Ravenna tragically lost her life on Wednesday evening after being involved in an accident with two vehicles.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Janet Lynn Slaughter was attempting to cross State Route 59 from the north to the south at approximately 9:45 p.m. when she was struck by a dark-colored pickup truck traveling eastbound on the same route. The driver of that vehicle reportedly veered to the right before fleeing the scene and is currently at large.
A second driver, a 43-year-old man from Lake Milton, was also heading eastbound on State Route 59 as he approached the Wal-Mart. He observed the victim lying in the roadway and informed troopers that he attempted to avoid her but was unable to do so, resulting in a collision.
Following the incident, he moved his vehicle to the right side of the road in an effort to alert other drivers. Slaughter was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
