Jamie Gallicchio Obituary, Death; – A woman lost her life in a snowmobile accident at a resort in Stafford, according to state police. The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Jamie Gallicchio from Ellington.

Authorities reported that they received a call regarding the incident at the Sun Valley Resort on Old Springfield Road in Stafford on Wednesday at approximately 3:25 p.m.

“Upon arrival, it was determined that the snowmobile operator had been ejected and suffered severe, life-threatening injuries,” state police stated. “The operator was transported by EMS to Johnson Memorial Hospital and later airlifted via Life Star to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.” The driver was confirmed to be Gallicchio. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries at St. Francis and was pronounced dead around 6:52 p.m. Her family has been notified.

Gallicchio had a passenger who incurred minor injuries but declined medical assistance at the scene, according to the troopers. “Currently, there are no known witnesses to this incident aside from the passenger,” state police noted.

They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event or possesses relevant information to reach out to Trooper Nicholas Miranda at 860-896-3200.
