Jake Wilson Obituary, Death; – A man from Port Vue tragically lost his life on Wednesday due to a motorcycle accident in White Oak, according to emergency personnel.
Jake Wilson, aged 23, was declared dead at the crash site located in the 1200 block of Long Run Road (Route 48) shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Allegheny County police stated that 9-1-1 dispatchers received a report at 1:18 a.m. regarding a man lying in the roadway just south of Lincoln Way. First responders discovered the victim, later identified as Wilson, deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction and Homicide units of the county police were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports suggest that Wilson was operating a street-legal “dirt bike” which collided with a guard rail.
In a social media statement, Port Vue Vigilant Hose Co. No. 1 extended its condolences to Wilson’s family and friends, noting that he was the son of former fire chief and current chaplain Tim Wilson, as well as a volunteer firefighter with the department. The statement described Wilson as “dependable, humble and kind.”
“As a young child, he learned to count by the numbers on fire trucks and was able to roll hoses long before he could tie his shoes,” the department remarked. “As a teenager, he worked alongside experienced firefighters, often saying little—just getting the job done. If a fire truck needed supplies, Jake’s fingerprints were already on the equipment. If there was a mess, he would clean it up before anyone else noticed.”
County police have requested that anyone who may have witnessed the incident contact the county police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
