Isabella Oscarson Obituary, Death; – A seasonal firefighter from the Idaho Department of Lands tragically passed away on September 26 after being struck by a falling tree while aiding in a prescribed burn conducted by the U.S. Forest Service in northern Idaho, according to officials.
KTVB reported that the firefighter, named Isabella Oscarson from Minnesota, sustained injuries during the Tinker Bugs prescribed fire in the Nez Perce–Clearwater National Forests. She was subsequently evacuated and transported to Grangeville, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
“The Idaho Department of Lands expresses its heartfelt condolences to Isabella’s family and friends,” stated Idaho Department of Lands Director Dustin Miller on social media. “This incident is a tragedy that profoundly affects the employees at the Idaho Department of Lands as well as the wider wildland fire community.
We are devastated and are doing everything possible to assist her family and our staff during this challenging period.”
Governor Brad Little has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until the day following her memorial service, emphasizing that Idaho is in mourning for the loss of wildland firefighter Isabella Oscarson and offering condolences to her family and the Idaho Department of Lands team.
