Hou Chun Lai Obituary, Death; – A 94-year-old man who succumbed to injuries sustained from a vehicle collision in San Francisco’s Richmond District has been identified by the city’s Medical Examiner’s Office. Hou Chun Lai, a resident of San Francisco, passed away last Friday, following the incident that occurred on October 2 at the intersection of Geary Boulevard and 25th Avenue.

While San Francisco police did not provide additional details regarding the collision, the pedestrian safety advocacy group Walk San Francisco reported on Tuesday that they were informed of the fatality by the police. “We are heartbroken to learn about this loss of life. We are holding the victim and their loved ones in our thoughts,” stated Jodie Medeiros, executive director of Walk SF.

The organization noted that this incident marks the 18th traffic-related pedestrian death in San Francisco for the year 2024, highlighting that a significant portion of Geary Boulevard is included in the city’s “high-injury network,” which comprises approximately 12% of streets where over two-thirds of traffic collisions occur.
