Herber Rivas,Garrett Robinson Obituary, Death; – Two workers killed in a south Alabama industrial accident have been identified by the Mobile Police Department.

According to the department, Herber Rivas, 50, and Garrett Robinson, 31, were the two workers killed Monday morning while running sewer lines.
At about 8:23 a.m. police responded to Princeton Woods regarding an industrial accident and found the location of the workers.

The department said Robinson was working in a sewer manhole when he was overtaken by what officials believe was gas. Rivas entered after Robinson and was also overcome by gas. A third worker then entered the manhole but was able to get out after becoming disoriented.

“MFRD’s [The Mobile Fire Rescue Department] Technical Rescue Personnel were able to bring Robinson and Rivas to the surface following an extensive recovery effort,” Mobile police said. “They were transported to the hospital but unfortunately were pronounced deceased a short time later.”

The third individual’s identity was not provided but continues to recover at a hospital, the department said.
