Gregory Derisso Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in a mass shooting that occurred in downtown Los Angeles, where several parties were taking place overnight, according to authorities.
The incident transpired around 1 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of 14th Place and Griffith Avenue, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department. At that time, it was noted that multiple parties were occurring in the vicinity.
LAPD officers were conducting patrols in the area around 11 p.m. on Sunday when they observed an individual entering what they suspected to be an unauthorized party.
Reports indicated that over 50 attendees were present at that gathering, which the officers subsequently shut down and dispersed. One individual was arrested for possessing a firearm.
A few hours later, law enforcement returned to the location following reports of gunfire and discovered eight individuals had been struck by bullets.
Information regarding the specifics of the incident remains scarce; however, a man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 52-year-old woman was transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Six additional individuals were injured in the shooting, with two of them reported to be in critical condition. Authorities stated that some victims were taken to the hospital via ambulance, while others made their own way there. The ages of the injured victims range from 26 to 62 years.
Judner Derisso, the father of the deceased man, identified his son as 29-year-old Gregory Derisso.
The motive behind the shooting has yet to be established, and it remains uncertain whether any arrests have been made.
