Grant Burkett Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who lost his life in a collision early this morning on the south side of South Bend as 61-year-old Grant Burkett, a resident of South Bend.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m., just south of Ireland Road. According to police reports, Burkett was traveling westbound on the Bypass and attempted to take the exit ramp heading north onto Michigan Street when he veered off the roadway and crashed on Michigan.
Traffic was obstructed on Michigan and the northbound ramp from the Bypass to Michigan for several hours following the accident.
