Gilbert Abbott Obituary, Death; – The News Item has confirmed the identity of a skateboarder who was tragically killed after being struck by a tanker truck on Route 487. Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley has identified the victim as 23-year-old Gilbert Abbott from Elysburg, who was involved in the incident at the intersection of Route 487 and Spruce Street on Wednesday night.
According to the Ralpho Township police, Abbott was riding his skateboard when he left Spruce Street and entered the path of a tanker truck that was traveling west on West Valley Avenue, operated by 54-year-old Ramon DeJesus from Shamokin.
