Gerardo Reyes Gonzalez Obituary, Death; – A bicyclist was declared deceased following a collision this morning, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety. At approximately 6:27 a.m., law enforcement officers responded to an incident on FM 1015, located north of Joe Olivarez Street, in the vicinity of Weslaco.
According to a news release from Texas DPS, initial investigations indicated that a male cyclist was traveling northbound in the inside lane of FM 1015, nearing Ramiro Guerra Drive. A 2024 Ford E-450 truck, operated by a male driver, was approaching from behind when it struck the cyclist.
The bicyclist, later identified as 47-year-old Gerardo Reyes Gonzalez Angeles from Donna, was thrown onto the roadway and suffered severe injuries. Angeles was transported to Knapp Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
