Gerardo A Ortiz Henriquez Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the individual who lost his life in a collision involving a tractor-trailer that struck two individuals riding the same Lime scooter over the weekend.

Gerardo A. Ortiz Henriquez, 24, from Portland, was riding on the back of a scooter operated by another individual when they were struck by the tractor-trailer early Sunday morning, as reported by the police.

Officers arrived at the scene of the crash on NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. at Holladay St. at approximately 2:45 a.m. and discovered Henriquez deceased at the location. The other individual was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to law enforcement, alcohol impairment may have played a role, and neither of the Lime scooter riders was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

The driver of the tractor-trailer did not initially stop at the scene and was pursued by a witness. However, officials stated that the driver — who was later stopped at Highway 224 and SE Johnson Road — was unaware of the incident when it occurred. The collision is not being treated as a hit-and-run.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the crash is urged to reach out to the Portland Police Bureau.
