Filamer Barayuga Simpliciano Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of one of the three individuals who lost their lives in a collision on Elmo Highway in October.

The deceased passenger has been identified as 62-year-old Filamer Barayuga Simpliciano from Delano. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Scofield Avenue and Elmo Highway on October 14, 2024, at approximately 4:26 p.m.

The preliminary investigation conducted by CHP revealed that a 36-year-old man from Porterville was operating a gray 2016 Ram 3500 eastbound on Elmo Highway, approaching a stop sign at Scofield Avenue, at an unspecified speed.

Simultaneously, a silver 1993 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Scofield Avenue, nearing an uncontrolled intersection for both northbound and southbound traffic at Elmo Highway, also at an unspecified speed.

The collision resulted in the immediate fatalities of the driver and two passengers in the Toyota, while the driver of the Ram was transported to Kern Medical with injuries classified as minor to moderate.
