Fabion Menifield Obituary, Death; – jury involved in a murder investigation in Lee County from 2021 has reached a guilty verdict, as reported by District Attorney Jessica Ventiere’s office.

The jury determined that Cordezmond Harris was guilty of murdering Fabion Menifield, 28, and also for discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle following a drive-by shooting that occurred outside the victim’s residence. The fatal incident took place in the 100 block of Chester Avenue on January 19 of that year. According to the DA’s office, Menifield was engaged in vehicle repairs outside his home when a gold-colored car approached and commenced firing.

Cordezmond Harris has been found guilty of the 2021 murder of Opelika resident Fabion Menifield.

Despite sustaining critical injuries, the victim managed to provide investigators with details of the incident before being transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Before his arrest, investigators from the Opelika police were able to link the vehicle to Harris’ girlfriend, as stated by the DA. During her interrogation, she confessed to having driven Harris past the victim’s residence, where he opened fire unexpectedly.

Sentencing for Harris, who has a previous conviction for a violent crime, has yet to be scheduled.
