Erik Eduardo Zavala-Flores Obituary, Death; – Two individuals have been apprehended in relation to the homicide of a man on November 10, 2024, as reported by the Houston Police Department.

Homicide detectives have disclosed that the remains of 28-year-old Erik Eduardo Zavala-Flores were discovered within a burning vehicle shortly before 3:30 a.m. in a secluded area near Shell Oil Road in San Jacinto County. An autopsy determined that Zavala-Flores succumbed to gunshot wounds prior to the incineration of his body. Investigators noted that he was last observed at a bar located at 9631 Jensen Dr. in the Eastex-Jensen vicinity of Houston.

The inquiry, along with witness testimonies, indicated that Zavala-Flores was shot in the bar’s parking lot, subsequently placed into his pickup truck, and transported by one suspect, while a second suspect followed in a separate vehicle. They then took Zavala-Flores to a remote location and ignited his truck with him still inside. The suspects have been identified as 33-year-old Alex Mejia Pineda and 24-year-old Alex Herrera Calderon.

On November 20, Herrera Calderon was taken into custody by Houston Police SWAT officers and charged with tampering with evidence related to a human corpse. Mejia Pineda was arrested on December 16 in Huntsville by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and has been charged with murder.
