Eloi Batista Da Silva Obituary, Death; Driver killed in Farmington six-car, chain-reaction crash on I-84, police say

Eloi Batista Da Silva Obituary, Death; – A 29-year-old individual lost his life in a six-vehicle chain-reaction accident on Interstate 84 on Sunday evening, as reported by state police.

Connecticut State Police have identified the deceased as Eloi Batista Da Silva, according to an incident report released on Monday morning. His place of residence has not yet been disclosed. Batista Da Silva was declared dead at the scene, according to police statements.

In addition, a man from Waterbury, a man from Southington, a woman from Bristol, and a man from Massachusetts sustained suspected minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for medical attention. The man from Wethersfield reported no injuries, as noted by state police. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Witnesses to the collision or individuals with additional information are encouraged to reach out to Trooper Michael Dean by calling 860-534-1098 or emailing michael.dean@ct.gov. Those with dashboard cameras who were driving in the vicinity at the time of the accident are also urged to contact Trooper Dean.

According to state police, Batista Da Silva’s vehicle and a Subaru, operated by a 38-year-old man from Southington, came to rest in the center lane of I-84 West, while a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 64-year-old man from Waterbury, halted in the right lane of I-84 West.
