Dennis Sharkey Jr Obituary, Death; – A man from Kansas City has been charged with multiple felonies, including murder, in connection with a suspected road rage shooting incident that resulted in the death of a Platte County man in January.
Ruslan Huseynov faces charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action, following a shooting that claimed the life of 50-year-old Dennis Sharkey Jr. on January 10, 2025, as per court records from Platte County.
Sharkey Jr.’s remains were discovered inside his vehicle near NW 70th Street and NW Prairie View Road.
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office had previously indicated that they believed Sharkey was a victim of road rage. Sharkey, who worked as a reporter for the Platte County Citizen, was driving a white 2019 Chevrolet Spark, and deputies stated that they believed he was returning from covering a sporting event at the time of his death.
On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office announced that they had identified and interviewed a potential suspect. The following day, Huseynov was charged with several felonies related to the incident. Huseynov is presently in custody at the Platte County Jail and is being held without bond.
Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd and Platte County Sheriff Erik Holland were scheduled to conduct a news conference on Wednesday afternoon to announce the charges.
