Day Por Tho Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the individual from St. Paul who lost his life when his stationary vehicle was struck by a driver evading a traffic stop on Sunday.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Day Por Tho, aged 36, was parked at the intersection of Larpenteur Avenue and Arcade Street when a 28-year-old man collided with his car. Tho was declared dead at the scene due to his injuries.
The suspect, a resident of Minneapolis, had been attempting to escape from law enforcement after being pulled over by a trooper for speeding near Interstate 94 and Marion Street in St. Paul. A state patrol helicopter tracked the fleeing driver until he crashed into Tho’s vehicle.
As reported by the State Patrol, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by a deputy from Ramsey County. Law enforcement indicated that a taser was deployed to aid in the capture of the fleeing driver. The suspect has been taken into custody at the Ramsey County Jail and is currently awaiting formal charges.
