David Austin Obituary, Death; – Dushawn Stallworth, 24, has been convicted of First Degree Murder for the fatal shooting of David Austin at the Auburn Manor apartments in 2022.

On October 29, 2022, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Rockford Police and firefighters were dispatched to the 4200 block of Auburn Street in response to reports of a shooting. Austin was transported to the hospital but unfortunately could not be saved and was declared dead at 1:11 p.m., as confirmed by the coroner.

Subsequently, police identified Stallworth as the shooter and apprehended him at 8:10 p.m. that Saturday in the 4500 block of Apple Orchard Lane. Stallworth faced trial in Winnebago County Court last week, where he was found guilty of the murder charge. His sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
