Crystal Daniel Obituary – The individual who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident on Outer Loop Saturday night has been officially identified.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 45-year-old Crystal Daniel succumbed to her injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the 7700 block of Outer Loop, in close proximity to her residence. She was declared deceased at UofL Hospital.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) apprehended 37-year-old Michael Dahl, charging him with murder in connection with Daniel’s death. An arrest report indicates that Dahl was exceeding the speed limit when he collided with Daniel while she was walking.

Subsequently, Dahl was involved in another accident shortly thereafter in the 8300 block of Johnson School Road. He received treatment for minor injuries at UofL Hospital before being taken into custody. Authorities reported that a witness’s dash camera captured the moment Dahl struck the woman, and he admitted to being depressed and consuming alcohol throughout the day.

A toxicology analysis revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .342, which is over four times the legal limit. Dahl is also facing charges of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, and failing to provide assistance. He is currently detained at Louisville Metro Corrections with a bond set at $100,000 and is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on September 10.
