Craig Olcott Obituary, Death; Pedestrian killed in possible hit-and-run on I-40 in Sevierville

Craig Olcott Obituary, Death; – Authorities are conducting an investigation into a potential hit-and-run incident following the discovery of an individual on the shoulder of I-40 East, situated between mile markers 407 and 408, on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Sevierville Police received a 911 call from a motorist who reported seeing a person lying on the roadside. Officers promptly arrived at the location and found the individual, who was alive but unresponsive. The individual has been identified as 61-year-old Craig Olcott. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police reports indicate that Olcott sustained injuries that are consistent with being struck by a vehicle or a trailer being towed. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted. The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information regarding the incident to contact SPD Detective Sergeant Graham Brantley at 865-868-1748.
