Clayton P Jacobs Obituary, Death; – A 21-year-old man has lost his life following a two-vehicle collision in Stark County early Friday morning.
As per a statement from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident took place at approximately 6:53 a.m. on State Route 44, just north of State Route 619.
Investigators discovered that the operator of a 2012 Volkswagen GTI, a 21-year-old man from Atwood, was heading north on State Route 44 when the vehicle veered left of center and collided with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling southbound.
The Hyundai, which was being driven by a 74-year-old man from Canton, veered off the west side of the roadway and came to a halt.
According to the statement, the Volkswagen veered off the east side of the road and rolled over onto its left side.
The 21-year-old driver was rescued from the Volkswagen and transported to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries, while the Hyundai driver was taken to Akron General Hospital with minor injuries.
On Wednesday morning, the 21-year-old driver, identified as Clayton P. Jacobs, was declared deceased.
The statement indicated that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Although the investigation into the crash is ongoing, there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
