Cassius Ramos-Benigno,Jennifer Van Obituary, Death; – The recent New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion in Hawaii has resulted in a sixth fatality, as reported by officials.

According to the Honolulu police, a 30-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday at a local hospital. Her identity has not yet been disclosed. This woman was among over 20 individuals who sustained injuries from a significant explosion attributed to illegal fireworks, as determined by authorities.

Initially, the explosion claimed the lives of three individuals. Two women, 61-year-old Carmelita Benigno and 58-year-old Nelie Ibarra, were declared dead at the scene. A third victim, 23-year-old Jennifer Van, passed away hours later due to her injuries. A fourth victim, 3-year-old Cassius Ramos-Benigno, died on January 6.

Six survivors were transported to Arizona for specialized burn treatment at the Diane & Bruce Halle Arizona Burn Center Valleywise Health. Among those patients, 29-year-old Kevin Vallesteros died on January 28. The Straub Benioff Medical Center in Honolulu has previously indicated that four patients continue to receive care there.

Honolulu Police have arrested 10 individuals in connection with the ongoing investigation, with additional arrests anticipated. Authorities reported the recovery of approximately 500 pounds of unused illegal fireworks from the carport and vehicles belonging to attendees of the gathering.
