Calvin L Boyles Obituary, Death; – On Monday, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office announced the sentencing of an individual convicted of second-degree murder in the previous year.

Man found shot dead, 19th & Park Tower Drive

As stated in a press release from the JCPO, 29-year-old Kequan O. Herring has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for the murder of 45-year-old Calvin L. Boyles.

Boyles was fatally shot in the head on November 28, 2023. Court documents indicate that the incident occurred shortly after midnight in the vicinity of 19th Street and Park Tower Drive. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered Boyles’ body inside the residence, with bullet casings found scattered in the backyard. The walls of the residence and those of neighboring properties exhibited visible bullet holes.

According to court records, surveillance footage from the area captured a suspect, later identified as Herring, firing shots at the rear of Boyles’ residence before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Detectives utilized cell tower mapping to confirm that Herring’s cell phone was at the crime scene at the time of the shooting.

In 2024, Herring was found guilty of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. On Friday, a judge in Jackson County imposed a total sentence of 32 years in prison, with certain sentences to be served concurrently and others consecutively.
