Billy Sorrow Obituary, Death; – An inmate was discovered deceased after spending time in a shared cell at a state prison located in western Maryland over the weekend.
Billy Sorrow, aged 50, passed away just prior to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland. Authorities indicated that they are awaiting autopsy results to ascertain the cause of his death.
While the cause of death remains unknown, police have stated that they have identified a suspect in connection with his demise.
Sorrow was found unresponsive on the floor. Officials reported that prior to his death, he was housed in a cell with another inmate. The Maryland State Police homicide detectives are conducting an investigation into his death, following a request from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Intelligence and Investigative Division.
At this moment, the suspect has not been charged with any offenses. His identity is being withheld as the investigation continues.
In July, another inmate also died at the facility. Elias Alvarado, aged 30, was found deceased in his cell. Police have similarly indicated that they identified a suspect in that case as well.
