Benjamin Humiston,Joshua Humiston Obituary, Death; – Three children and two adults who tragically lost their lives in a shooting at their residence in Fall City on Monday morning have been officially identified.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the children as Joshua Humiston, aged 9, Katheryn Humiston, aged 7, and Benjamin Humiston, aged 13. Their identities were disclosed a day after the parents, Mark and Sarah Humiston, were recognized by Rhea Robertson, a soccer coach who had mentored one of the children.
The report from the King County Medical Examiner indicated that all five family members succumbed to gunshot wounds. A representative from Hargis Engineers informed KOMO News that Mark Humiston was a professional electrical engineer with the firm and was regarded as a “valued member” of the team.
An 11-year-old girl, the sole survivor of the incident, sought medical assistance at a neighbor’s home prior to the arrival of authorities, as reported by a source to KOMO News. On Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson from UW Medicine confirmed that she had been released from the hospital.
A candlelight vigil took place at Fall City United Methodist Church on Tuesday evening, where neighbors and friends gathered to honor the memory of the “close-knit family.”
The 15-year-old boy accused of the murders of Mark, Sarah, and the three children appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office stated that he waived his right to appear in person and was represented by defense attorneys.
Judge Joe Campagna established probable cause for five counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree attempted murder, resulting in the teen being held in secure detention with a prohibition on contact with the “surviving family members of the immediate family.”
According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the bodies of two adults and three juveniles at a residence located on the 7700 block of Lake Alice Road Southeast, near the Lake Alice public boat launch, following multiple 911 calls reporting a potential shooting shortly before 5 a.m. on Monday in the Fall City area of King County. A press conference was held on Monday.
