Bairon Omar Garcia Bol,Marta Isabel De Leon Lopez Obituary, Death; – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred last month in southwest Miami-Dade, where he is accused of driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that Joel Ricardo, 38, was apprehended on Monday by the Florida Highway Patrol regarding the incident that took place on February 4, resulting in the deaths of Bairon Omar Garcia Bol and his wife, Marta Isabel De Leon Lopez.

The collision transpired around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bird Road and Southwest 88th Court, located in the Westchester area.

Investigators reported that Ricardo was operating a black Ford Expedition, heading west on Bird Road at an “extremely high rate of speed” as he approached the intersection. Simultaneously, Garcia Bol was driving a red Toyota Corolla eastbound on Bird Road, preparing to turn left onto northbound Southwest 88th Court.

Surveillance footage obtained by Local 10 News captured Ricardo’s SUV speeding through the intersection and violently colliding with the front right side of the Corolla.

The force of the impact caused the Corolla to spin counterclockwise and overturn, ultimately coming to a stop in the center of the westbound lanes. Investigators noted that at least one occupant was ejected from the vehicle due to the crash.

It was determined that the vehicle traveled approximately 316 feet from the point of impact before halting. Tragically, both Garcia Bol and De Leon Lopez, who was seated in the front passenger position, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Potential factors contributing to the crash include excessive speed and alcohol consumption. Data retrieved from the SUV’s event data recorder indicated that Ricardo was traveling at 106 mph just five seconds prior to the collision and was still moving at 86 mph at the moment of impact, significantly exceeding the posted speed limit of 40 mph.

Troopers who investigated at the hospital observed signs of impairment. An officer noted that Ricardo exhibited a smell of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. Authorities reported that he declined to undergo a voluntary blood draw.
