Arlen Brown Obituary, Death; Police identify man killed in crash that shut down I-95 in NH

Arlen Brown Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life in a collision that resulted in the closure of a section of Interstate 95 in New Hampshire on Wednesday evening.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, they were dispatched to a reported head-on collision on I-95 north in Portsmouth, just prior to the Route 16 north split, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a Ford Escape had crossed the median from the southbound lanes of I-95 and collided head-on with a Toyota Camry traveling northbound. The driver of the Ford Escape, identified as 68-year-old Arlen Brown from Sabattus, Maine, was transported from the scene to Portsmouth Regional Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, 25-year-old Jessica Emerson from Berwick, Maine, was also taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital by ambulance. She sustained serious injuries; however, authorities have indicated that she is expected to recover.

There were no passengers in either vehicle involved in the incident. All northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for approximately two hours to facilitate the investigation and the removal of debris from the roadway.

State police received assistance at the scene from Portsmouth police and fire departments, the state Department of Transportation, and two local towing companies. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and state police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Trooper Patrick Vetter at 603-271-3636.
