Anupama Vaidya Obituary, Death; – The Overland Park Police Department reported that a woman was fatally injured as a result of apparent flash flooding on Monday morning.

The department responded to the vicinity of West 155th Terrace and Nall Avenue at approximately 9:30 a.m. to conduct a search for a missing individual.

Authorities had received a report from family members indicating that their relative, identified as a 62-year-old woman, had departed for a walk on the trails around 7:30 a.m., and they had been unable to contact her since. She was known to frequently walk a trail located west of Nall, and police informed KMBC that she resided in close proximity.

During the search, law enforcement officials located the woman’s body in a nearby creek. They stated that the creek was overflowing as a result of the heavy rainfall. The preliminary cause of death is believed to be drowning; however, confirmation from a medical examiner is required.

The woman has been identified by police as Anupama Vaidya, aged 62, from Overland Park. Her family has been informed. The Overland Park Fire Department provided assistance during the recovery operation. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

On Monday, the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for several areas in the Kansas City metropolitan region, including Overland Park, due to the risk of flooding. This follows last week’s floods in KCK, which resulted in the closure of numerous roads and the displacement of vehicles.
