Anthony Wise Obituary, Death; – Columbus police have announced the identification of the individual who was fatally shot, an incident they attribute to a dispute in Weinland Park. Authorities are seeking assistance from the public to locate the shooter.
The victim, Anthony Wise, aged 20, was discovered with a gunshot wound by officers responding to a shooting report shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Monday in the 1200 block of North 4th Street, as stated by city homicide detectives in a news release.
Medics from the Columbus Division of Fire transported Wise, who was in critical condition, to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m., according to police reports.
As per the investigation by Columbus police homicide detectives, Wise was with a group of friends at the shelter house in Weinland Park when an individual from the group brandished a handgun and opened fire, hitting Wise. Detectives suspect that the shooting stemmed from an “ongoing dispute” involving Wise and a group of unidentified individuals.
Witnesses, along with the shooter, fled the scene into the nearby neighborhood of Weinland Park, according to detectives. The suspect is described as a 20-year-old Black male, wearing a toboggan, a gray hooded jacket, and jeans. Police are urging anyone with surveillance cameras in the Weinland Park area to check their footage for any relevant information.
