Anthony Carroll,Christian Markey Obituary, Death; – The Sangamon County Coroner has confirmed the identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in a collision in Springfield early Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Anthony Carroll, aged 40, and Christian Markey, aged 28, both residents of Springfield.
As reported by the Coroner, Carroll was declared dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the incident. Markey was transported by emergency medical services to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Illinois State Police responded to a report of the crash on Illinois Route 4 at Jefferson Street at 11:56 p.m. on Monday.
According to troopers, a purple Buick was traveling south on Illinois Route 4 and had come to a stop at a traffic light. A red Hyundai, also heading south, failed to decelerate and collided with the rear of the Buick. Authorities indicated that the Buick, operated by Carroll, subsequently caught fire.
