Angela Marie Willard Obituary, Death; – The King County Medical Examiner has confirmed the identity of the woman who was struck and killed by a driver while she was reportedly sleeping near the exit of a Capitol Hill apartment building parking garage last week.
Investigators have determined that Angela Marie Willard succumbed to blunt force trauma to the torso in the accident that occurred on Tuesday morning on Boylston between Pine and Pike. She was 49 years old.
The report indicates that Willard was fatally injured at the exit of the parking garage belonging to the Pike Motorworks building, which spans an entire block.
CHS provided coverage of the 6:30 AM collision and subsequent investigation. According to police, the 49-year-old woman was allegedly sleeping, “laying in the roadway” when the driver exited the parking garage onto Boylston. Seattle Fire personnel treated the woman and transported her to Harborview in critical condition, where she later passed away.
Authorities report that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. A Drug Recognition Expert assessed her and found no indications of impairment, according to SPD.
Willard’s death marks the third fatal incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area during June. CHS previously reported on the deaths of two residents who were backed over and killed in a smoking shelter behind a First Hill senior community earlier this month.
Willard was identified as a resident of Seattle.
