Amari Hodges Obituary, Death; – The individual discovered deceased with a gunshot wound in a wrecked vehicle has been identified by the Grand Rapids police.

Amari Hodges, aged 22, was fatally shot on Wednesday evening in the southeast area of the city.

Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom stated that officers arrived at the intersection of Kalamazoo Avenue and Hall Street at approximately 9 p.m.

They discovered that a vehicle had collided with and toppled a light pole. Officers subsequently broke the window of the car to reach the man inside, only to find that he had sustained a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders made attempts to save his life; however, the man was declared dead at the scene.

The Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office has classified his death as a homicide. This incident marks the second shooting in the southeast region of the city within a span of two days.

Winstrom mentioned that local residents expressed to the police their frustration with the ongoing violence. One neighbor remarked that it was the second consecutive day she had heard gunfire and that she was tired of it.

“They are exceedingly frustrated,” he remarked. “I empathize with their frustration and am devastated by the loss of yet another young individual.”
