Amanda Allen Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified a woman who passed away following a shooting involving a deputy on Monday night in Gladewater.
As reported by the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies and officers from the Gladewater Police Department were attempting to stop and apprehend Amanda Allen, 43, at a restaurant situated near the 1100 block of E. Broadway Ave. in Gladewater. Officials indicated that they were aware Allen was engaged in drug trafficking.
“While trying to evade the officers, Allen used her vehicle to collide with a Gregg County patrol vehicle, prompting a Gregg County Sheriff’s Deputy to discharge his service weapon in defense of the other deputies and police officers,” stated the GCSO. “The deputies and officers present immediately initiated life-saving measures, and Allen was transported to a local hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.”
No law enforcement personnel sustained serious injuries.
The Texas Rangers will now oversee the investigation into this incident.
