Alberto Rodriguez Obituary, Death; – A 24-year-old man from the Bay Area, who lost his life in a crash on Interstate 5 early Monday morning, has been identified.

The Fresno County Coroner has confirmed the individual as Alberto Rodriguez, 24, from Menlo Park. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 at approximately 60 miles per hour around 12:05 a.m.

Investigators report that a 2011 Subaru Outback was stationary behind a halted 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The CHP indicated that the driver of the Volvo failed to decelerate or stop, colliding with the rear of the Subaru. This collision propelled the Subaru into the back of the Freightliner.

Authorities have stated that Rodriguez, who was an unrestrained passenger in the Subaru, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver and four other occupants of the Subaru suffered minor to moderate injuries, while the driver and passenger of the Volvo, along with the driver of the Freightliner, remained unharmed, as per the CHP’s report.
