Ahsun Madison Obituary, Death; – Austin police have identified a 16-year-old boy as the victim of a homicide that occurred on Monday night in north Austin. They have also arrested another 16-year-old boy in connection with the case.
Authorities responded to several 911 calls reporting gunfire in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard at approximately 8:20 p.m. Witnesses indicated that they heard shots and some reported that an individual had been shot.
On Wednesday, the Austin Police Department confirmed that the victim, Ahsun Madison, 16, succumbed to injuries sustained during the shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a victim exhibiting “obvious signs of trauma.” Despite the efforts of APD officers, EMS, and the Austin Fire Department to perform life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, APD stated that the suspect, a 16-year-old Hispanic male, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. His identity is withheld from the public due to his juvenile status. The suspect had a prior history of arrests related to earlier shootings and was out on bond at the time of this incident.
According to APD, the suspect shot and killed Madison at an apartment complex before fleeing the scene. He was later located and apprehended by Austin Police Gang Detectives. He has been booked into the Gardner Betts Juvenile Center on charges of first-degree murder.
Police noted that the suspect had been involved in several shootings earlier this year, including a homicide that took place on January 8 in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard. While the 16-year-old was not the shooter in that incident, he was present during the event.
