Matthew Handlon Death; – The individual who lost their life following a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highway 136 near Amarillo on Monday morning has been identified as 32-year-old Matthew Handlon, a resident of Amarillo. Additionally, one individual sustained critical injuries as a result of the incident.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:51 a.m. on Highway 136, roughly half a mile south of FM Road 293. As reported by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), a 2020 Ford Transit van, driven by Matthew Handlon, was heading southbound on Highway 136, while a 2021 Ford Transit van was traveling northbound on the same roadway. The DPS indicated that a suspected medical episode involving the driver caused the 2020 Ford to drift into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the 2021 Ford.
