Ronald Duncan Obituary, Death; – A man who was fatally struck by a vehicle in San Francisco’s Mission District last weekend has been identified by the city’s Medical Examiner’s Office as 64-year-old Ronald Duncan.

The incident occurred at 2:43 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of 16th Street and Rondel Place, just west of the 16th Street Mission BART station, as reported by San Francisco police.

According to investigators, Duncan was found lying in the roadway before being hit by the vehicle. He was transported to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries there, as stated by the police. The driver remained at the scene following the collision.

The pedestrian advocacy group Walk San Francisco released a statement offering condolences to Duncan’s family and urging the city to implement safety enhancements along 16th Street, which has experienced four pedestrian fatalities over the past four years within a four-block area between Valencia and Harrison streets.

“City leaders must take all necessary actions to prevent these tragedies,” said Jodie Medeiros, executive director of Walk SF, in the statement. “Every individual walks or rolls in our city, and each pedestrian death is preventable, serving as a stark reminder that more must be done to ensure the safety of all who use our streets.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a text message tip to TIP411, beginning the message with SFPD.
