Ervin Barton Obituary, Death; – The Washoe County coroner has confirmed the identity of the individual who succumbed to injuries following a shooting on El Rancho Drive in Sparks late Saturday night. According to the medical examiner, 45-year-old Ervin Barton, a resident of Sparks, passed away shortly after being admitted to Renown Regional Medical Center.
Authorities report that an argument ensued between Barton and another man, during which gunfire erupted. The other individual involved fled the scene but subsequently contacted 911 to report the incident. Law enforcement indicates that he is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sparks Police responded to an apartment located at 1000 El Rancho Drive after receiving reports of multiple gunshots and screams. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite the medical assistance provided by REMSA and the Sparks Fire Department at the scene, the man later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Following their investigation, Sparks Police detectives determined that the gunfire occurred during a confrontation between the two men. The individual who left the scene has since reached out to authorities and is cooperating with the investigation. Police have stated that there are currently no outstanding suspects.
