Jaydin Bahena Obituary, Death; – A 16-year-old male has tragically lost his life in what authorities are now categorizing as a double homicide following a shooting incident that occurred on Friday night in the southwest suburban area of Summit.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Jaydin Bahena, a resident of Summit. After the shooting, he was transported to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries the following day, as reported by the Summit Police Department. Additionally, a 34-year-old man was also shot during the incident and was later pronounced dead at the hospital; his identity has not yet been disclosed.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Hanover and 73rd Avenue in Summit shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday in response to reports of gunfire and an individual being struck.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered the 16-year-old, later confirmed to be Bahena, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Officers provided immediate assistance and summoned emergency medical services. The victim was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital by the Summit Fire Department for treatment, but he ultimately did not survive.
Furthermore, police indicated that they received reports of a potential additional victim in the area north of the initial scene. There, they found the 34-year-old man seated in a vehicle with visible gunshot wounds. He was also transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An active investigation is currently underway, being conducted by the Summit police in conjunction with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Summit police or to submit a tip anonymously through the designated channels. In light of this tragedy, Bahena’s family has established a GoFundMe account to assist with funeral and memorial expenses.
