Jared Merrill Obituary, Death; – A deputy coroner has confirmed the identity of a man who lost his life in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. Power County Deputy Coroner Matt Rose reported that the deceased was Jared Merrill, a 25-year-old resident of Pocatello. The accident occurred on Sunday shortly after 5:40 p.m. while traveling eastbound on East County Road, near U.S. Highway 30 in Power County.
According to the Idaho State Police, Merrill was operating a 2007 Honda motorcycle, while a 26-year-old individual from Pocatello was riding a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle. Both riders were heading east together when they were unable to navigate a curve, resulting in a slide into a concrete barrier, which caused them to be thrown from their motorcycles. The riders and their motorcycles ultimately came to rest on the right shoulder, as reported by ISP.
Both individuals were wearing helmets at the time of the incident. Merrill succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The other rider sustained minor injuries, received treatment at the scene, and did not require hospitalization, according to ISP. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
