Kenneth Hill Obituary, Death; – The man who died while duck hunting in the Duck Marshes of the Great Salt Lake earlier this week has been identified by authorities as Kenneth Hill, 81.
Authorities said Hill was duck hunting with his friend and a dog on the night of Oct. 22. The two men left the boat to retrieve duck decoys when one of the men fell into the water. The friend was later able to find Hill face down in the water.
“[Hill’s friend] was able to retrieve Mr. Hill and bring him to a nearby island where he performed CPR,” The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area for a possible drowning.”
Emergency responders were able to locate the men and recover the boat as well as the dog. Hill was pronounced deceased on the scene while the other man received medical treatment on-site. The dog and boat were turned over to the family.
An investigation into what happened is still ongoing, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Officials previously told NEWSCHAIN that detectives believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
