Darren Lucas Obituary, Death; – A woman is now facing charges after north suburban police were investigating a video circulating on social media that was believed to be linked to a crash that killed a pedestrian.

Tynesha McCarty Wroten was arrested Tuesday and is now facing charges in the deadly crash, the Lake County Illinois Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash happened on Nov. 3 at about 5:46 p.m. at the intersection of Sheridan Road and 33rd Street, Zion police said.

Police said the driver of a 2015 Ford Edge struck a pedestrian at the intersection.

The pedestrian died at the scene. He was identified as Darren Lucas, 59, according to Zion police.

Police said the driver of the Ford stayed at the scene and called 911.

On Nov. 7, police began an investigation regarding “a video that has surfaced on social media related to this incident.”

“Investigators are currently following up on investigative leads to verify the validity of the video,” police said.

McCarty Wroten’s charges include reckless homicide with a motor vehicle and aggravated use of a communication device resulting in death, the sheriff said.

The suspect was expected appear in court Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear if Zion police’s investigation into a social media was directly related to the suspect’s arrest and charges.
